Ok so the first thing people have asked me is “why is Jacob walking like he has a dick up his ass already in that opening bit?”

The truth is that we shot that AFTER the sex. The guys had arrived on set and I wanted to jump right into shooting and make sure we got everything we needed, leaving that opening cat and mouse B-roll bit for the end. While one of the crew went out to scout places we could shoot that opening, we jumped right into the scene.

Jacob was new to us, so I wanted to give him as much time as possible. One of my favorite hookup stories from my own misspent 20s was when I was out riding my bike through the streets of Toronto. Some guy pulled up next to me at a stop sign and struck up a conversation that literally went like this:

We used no dialogue for the movie other than what the guys ad-libbed themselves. I wanted the whole movie to feel natural. So the guys just said and did what came naturally. The crew really just shot what we got.

OK so… yea, we gussied it up a bit with some drone and steady cam follow shots. This IS a Titan movie, after all.

The opening scene shows a street in Koreatown, halfway between Hollywood and Downtown. Lots of tall palm trees, walk-ups and green lawns. I got Jeremy just walking down the street and running into Tristan. The sidewalk was pretty busy so we had to keep waiting for those few seconds where I was able to get them and nobody else too close to the action. I shot it from across the street, out the balcony of the house and right next to them… It really does feel like a random hookup.

OK, maybe a bit faster.

Jeremy and Tristan live in San Diego and they drove up together that morning. So they already had some chemistry going by the time they got to the set. Once Jeremy saw Tristan’s dick, he couldn’t WAIT to get going and kept trying to hurry us up so he could get some of that dick.

That set the stage for what was such an easy-going, intense and hot scene that I think opens up this movie perfectly.

Director’s Blog: Making Bad Cop with Dallas and Dakota

WHAT a great scene. It kinda felt like we bowled a perfect set. There were so many strange things that not only lead up to this scene but how this scene pretty much put the button on the end of this movie.

This scene was supposed to feature Tex Davidson instead of Dakota but thanks to my own poor communication and planning (read more about that here), I had to call Dakota that morning and hire a car to go get him. He arrived on set literally at 10:30 and we were shooting by 10:45.

We laughed a lot. We were kinda time-tight so we just kept going. Almost non-stop. We wanted to show Dallas’ chest and his huge dick…. so all the positions we did showed off really well.

This was shot in the same location where we shot Bad Cop 1… a fun story. Bad Cop was one of the first movies I directed for Titan.  In the original Bad Cop movie, a friend of mine told me “I always wanted to be in porn… can you put me in somewhere?”

No. Not really… so instead of casting him, I got a print of a picture that I had taken of him years before when he was running for IML, and stuck it up on the wall… to my utter surprise, 5 years later, it was still stuck there on the wall in that basement where we were shooting. So… I left it there.
