This was kind of a chaotic shoot. The script called for a drone shot that tracked Jesse has he walked from the wall where he was “doing lawn work” and then hover only inches from his head as he reached into a cooler and got water. It was pretty scary for Jesse to have that quad-copter that close to him…
The script then called for me to switch cameras and do a body pan up and down Jesse and Julian... THEN they got into the pool and I had to shoot them below the water and then ABOVE the water doing the exact same thing and then match it up in editing.
After all that… we had to then move forward with Julian’s first scene ever, which of course… was a blast… Julian just jokes non-stop and we laughed the whole time. It was great. But since the opening took so long to shoot and we had a new guy to get through his first scene… the sun came around the wall a bit too far and we had to keep stopping the shoot to move the scrim and we eventually just put the guys in a different angle so we didn’t have the sun streaming directly into the lens.
